Six origin groups – Chinese, Indian, Filipino, Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese – accounted for 85% of all Asian Americans as of 2015. The remaining 13 origin groups each made up 2% or less of the nation’s Asian population.

An overwhelming majority of independents (81%) continue to “lean” toward either the Republican Party or the Democratic Party. Among the public overall, 17% are Democratic-leaning independents, while 13% lean toward the Republican Party.

In 2020, nearly a quarter of the electorate (23%) will be ages 65 and older. Baby Boomers and older generations are expected to account for fewer than four-in-ten eligible voters.
