Latino Eligible Voters in the 2020 Election

Research Overview

Latinos are expected to be the nation's largest minority group in the 2020 election, with a record 32 million projected eligible voters. They will account for 13.3% of all eligible voters in the U.S. Nationally, 34% of Latino registered voters identify with or lean toward the Republican Party. In contrast, 62% identify with or lean toward the Democratic Party.

Two-in-three Hispanic eligible voters live in five states - California, Texas, Florida, New York, and Arizona. Among states with the largest Hispanic populations, at least half of Hispanics are eligible to vote in Florida (56%), California (51%), and Texas (50%). In 26 congressional districts, Hispanics represent at least half of all eligible voters.

• Top states by congressional districts where Hispanics represent at least half of all eligible voters

California: 11 districts

Texas: 8 districts

Florida: 3 districts - 25th, 26th, and 27th districts

Arizona: 2 districts - 3rd and 7th districts

New York: 1 district - 15th district

Illinois: 1 district - 4th district
